Birthday Flowers

Are you looking to purchase birthday flowers for someone special?  Why not add a personalized touch by selecting blossoms that are uniquely associated with the individual’s birthday?  Similar to the concept of birthstones, all twelve months of the year have flowers that are uniquely associated with a particular month.

Typical birthday flowers associated with January are snowdrops and carnations.  Carnations come in a variety of colors including mauve, orange, pink, red, and yellow.  Therefore, you do not have to feel committed to one color when purchasing your birthday flowers: you can purchase that special person’s favorite color, or even combine all of the colors into a gorgeous arrangement! Have some snowdrops added to your carnation arrangement and, magically, you have the perfect birthday flower arrangement.

Common flowers associated with the month of February are flowers that are purple in hue.  This is due to the fact that the gemstone associated with February is the amethyst: a lavender or dark purple stone.  Thus, both violets and purple irises are associated with February.  Additionally, if you are not happy with the color purple, you can find a variety of irises in a number of hues including blue, brown, white, and even yellow!

The blooms related to the month of March are often the Daffodil.  Daffodils are typical blooms associated with the spring, and the most common color daffodils are those that possess a vibrant yellow color.  However, if you don’t desire yellow daffodils, you can always talk to the florist to see if they offer daffodils in orange, pink, or white.

The month of April calls for daisies!  Daisies make a beautiful arrangement of birthday flowers and celebrate, not only that special someone’s birthday, but the birth of spring!  Plus, daisies are available in hues of both white and pink, thus you can have the florist intermingle the two for an absolutely stunning arrangement of birthday flowers!

The blossoms typically associated with the month of May are Lily of the Valley.  Similar to daisies in April, Lily of the valley is a delicate flower that represents all that is beautiful about spring!  Lily of the Valley are small, white, bell-shaped flowers that are not only ideal as birthday flowers for those born in May, but because of their simplistic beauty and white coloring, these tiny lilies are also equally suitable for weddings and baby showers!

Roses are associated with the month of June, as are many wedding celebrations.  Thus, Roses are suitable as birthday flowers for those people born in June, in addition to being suitable flowers for the new bride and groom!

Tulips are a tender bloom with a pleasing scent and are perfect for individuals born in July.  Further, this diverse blossom is available in nearly every color.  Thus, when selecting birthday flowers, you may want to ask the florist to mingle a variety of tulips into your arrangement!

Gladioli are available in a variety of colors, including orange, peach, pink, purple, red, yellow and white.  Similar to most spring flowers, these blooms are not only ideal as birthday flowers for individuals born in August, but also serve well in bridal bouquets, centerpieces, and corsages.

A bouquet of Asters is perfect for individuals born in September!  Plus, a florist can design an arrangement of birthday flowers in an assortment of colors, varying from pale pink to rich lavender. Finally, as with many blooms, Asters are ideal for weddings and bridal showers!

Marigolds are a wonderful bloom for individuals born in October.  Additionally, like many other flowers, Marigolds are available in a variety of colors and some blooms are even multicolored!  Yellow is the favored color of Marigolds, because the color goes so well with other autumnal décor!

Chrysanthemums are the flower you should purchase for individuals born in November. Further, the bloom comes in a vast array of colors and can even be dyed by the florist if you should desire.   Thus, you are bound to be able to find Chrysanthemums that match the unique personality of that special someone you are purchasing birthday flowers for!

December is an ideal month to purchase Poinsettias, as they are popular around Christmas time.  However, if Poinsettias are not your idea of a birthday bloom, why not consider buying your special someone a bouquet of orchids instead?  Orchids come in variety of colors.  Finally, with so many colors to choose from and with a little help from a talented florist, you can have the perfect arrangement of birthday flowers designed!
